Jamie Lesnock, MD, of MidAtlantic Gynecologic Oncology of Mon General Hospital, recently received the “Best Basic Science Poster Award” at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s 44th Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer.
The award was presented to Dr. Lesnock for her poster, “Germline versus Somatic BRCA Mutations: Analysis of the Cancer Genome Atlas Project in Patients with Advanced Stage Serous Epithelial Ovarian Cancer.” The 2013 award recognized the best basic science poster presented at the 2012 Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) annual meeting.
The SGO presented awards for excellence in gynecologic cancer research and treatment at its annual meeting held in Los Angeles on March 9.
Dr. Lesnock specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and gynecologic oncology at Mon General. She has a special clinical interest in robotically assisted gynecological procedures. She received her Medical Degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and did her residency and fellowship at Magee Woman’s Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh.
MidAtlantic Gynecologic Oncology of Mon General is located in the hospital’s Zelda Stein Weiss Cancer Center.
The SGO is a national medical specialty organization of physicians and allied health care professionals who are trained in the comprehensive management of women with malignancies of the reproductive tract. SGO members provide multidisciplinary cancer treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and supportive care.
